We have a penchant for “collecting” memories. Through maps, photographs, and souvenirs, we like to document our travels in an attempt to make the moments last longer. When traveling as well as photographing, we tend to become caught up with the well-known, the obvious — the monuments and landmarks. I prefer to turn the other way. My work immortalizes the unseen, the unnoticed, and the unknown in the form of common photographic postcards, preserving them as a reminiscence of my own unique experience. Their ambiguity also serves as a reminder of the importance of words in documenting our experiences beyond what a photograph can show.
